| Basically speed dating is the perfect way to meet people who want to meet people.
The event is really a social gathering with structure. Approximately 20 men and 20 women attend. There's a relaxed and fun atmosphere as soon as the event starts, and don't worry about arriving by yourself as we will be there to greet you and put you at your ease.
Ladies who wish to attend alone will be pleased to hear that we ensure there is a qualified SIA Door Person at every event to give you an added sense of security while you're having fun. Not that there's anything to worry about but we are always thinking of ways to improve your speed dating experience.
Arrive for 8pm (or before if you'd like a little drink, but not too much)
We'll be there to welcome you and make you feel at ease, give you your drink voucher, name badge and answer any questions you may have about the night.
Once everyone has arrived we'll give you each your decision sheet in a privacy folder and your table number. We'll then ask you to fill in a few details and move to your allocated table.
You'll begin the speed dating event by chatting with the person who has been given the same table number as you for 4 minutes. At the end of this time you'll hear a whistle to announce the 4 minutes is up. The ladies stay seated at their table and the men move up one table and begin to chat to the next person, and so on.
At about half time we'll announce a 15 minute break to allow you to adjourn to the bar for refreshment and to mingle. Once the break is over we'll ask you to return to your table (guys, the next one in sequence) and meet the rest of the crowd.
At about 10pm everyone will have met everyone and the event ends. At that point you'll be asked to hand in your decision sheets to us and you'll be given a copy for your reference. You can either stay and socialise a bit longer or head off home, it's up to you.
The next day you'll receive an email from us to your specified email address telling you how many matches you have and their contact email address. The rest is up to you.
Now, how fun and easy is that! The benefits are:
- Meet up to 20 potential partners
- Everyone is there to meet someone
- Don't get stuck on a boring date for hours
- High success rate
- Boost your self confidence

The whole night is fantastic value and only costs around £20, plus you also get a drink voucher on arrival.

If you're worried about what questions to ask the other speed daters we've listed some below to get you started.
What made you try speed dating?
What kind of music do you like?
What bands were you into after you left school?
Who’s your favourite artist?
What kind of movies do you prefer?
What is your all time favourite movie?
Where is your favourite holiday destination?
Do you believe in wearing what’s in fashion or what suits you?
Are you into keeping fit or do any sport?
What job do you do and do you enjoy it?
Do you prefer nights in on would you rather be out partying?
What’s your favourite meal?
What would be your perfect date?
Would you say you are romantic?
If you won the lottery how would you spend your money?
If you had only six months to live, what would you do first?
What is your idea of fun?
What luxury item would you take on a desert island?
How would you describe success?
The best thing to remember is to smile, it's a great ice-breaker... don't overdo it though or it gets creepy, and remember your dental hygiene! Flirt if you like someone, use plenty of eye contact. Have questions ready to ask, write them down if you need to. If you liked someone but think you made a mess of your date, then use the break time to go and get to know them better. Dress well and make an effort, smart casual is usually best.
Speed Dating was originally thought up by a Jewish Rabbi Yaacov Deyo, from Los Angeles in the 1990's to help Jewish singles to meet and marry. It was such a hit that before long non-Jewish people also wanted to join in the fun and so it turned into a non-religious event to help single people meet single people in their search for a partner. Speed dating takes place all over the world and has become the way to meet partners and new friends. The first speed-dating event took place at Pete’s Café in Beverly Hills in late 1998, and the rest is history...
